One of the highlights of my ribbon cutting last week deserves special mention. The ribbon cutting was an occasion to celebrate the re-branding of my business with a wonderful turnout of The Chamber ambassadors, clients, friends and family! I had an opportunity to meet new people, share a bit about my business, answer questions, cut the ribbon, all the usual festivities.
Unexpectedly, one of my clients, “Joe”, wanted to share a little something in front of the whole group … at that point I was wondering how nervous I should be!
Joe shared that, a few weeks ago, I told him that as I was leaving my corporate job in 2007, my co-worker told me, “That is so great that your ship came in!” At the time I reflected on that a bit and I responded, “Well, I’m not sure it came in; it’s more like I’m swimming out to get it!” (If you have ever pursued a dream, you know what I mean!)
Shortly after this conversation, Joe received the following fortune at a Chinese restaurant, which he read to the group last Thursday:
Pretty cool, huh? Message delivered and message received, right, Joe? Sometimes we need to receive the messages over and over again before they really sink in. And we will keep getting the message until we really finally ‘get’ the message!
How about you? Are you waiting for your ship to come in or are you swimming out to it?
