You’re right; that’s not a typical headline for my e-inspiration! Bear with me and I’ll explain.
I often encourage my clients to ask a different question. For instance, rather than “How are you?” ask “What’s good today?” Asking a different question yields a different result; it sets the stage for an unexpected conversation.
One of my clients is the mom of a 5 year-old. Every day on the way to preschool, she asks her son, “What’s good today?” One day the little guy wasn’t in such a great mood his sullen reply was “Nothing.” Not to be detoured, mom kept asking the question and said, “There’s gotta be something … what’s good today?” Finally, the exasperated little boy shouts, “Okay, fine, I have my batman underwear on today!”
He had to dig deep and search for something positive, and he found it!
How about you? What’s good today? Are you focused on the little blessings, like batman underwear, or are you caught up in what’s not good enough? Change your focus and change your day.
